This is a subject we can all relate to on almost a daily basis !!!
So what do I mean when I say blame ?
Blame has a broad wide area to cover, one which we either all experience on a regular basis or some of us state who we feel our to blame, when something does not go the way we think it should go?
Blame is only an excuse to avoid taking responsibility for our own actions or the actions of those taken by others on us!
When you break down Blame into bite size pieces, what you get in its simplest form is pore communication between two or more people.
When you review communication it has three key components, which are Physiology, Voice / pitch, pace, tone & the Words we actually say!
Take these three components on an individual basis :-
Percentage wise what we get when we communicate on a regular basis is broken down into these three levels, i.e. what we see (Body language), what we hear (Voice) & what is actually said (Words).
Physiology – Body language 55%
Voice – Pitch, Pace & Tone 38%
Words used – 7%
The above have always surprised me immensely because of the fact that it has little to do with what we say word wise, more about we see & hear i.e. body language + voice, which we translate into what we think has been actually said.
Plus communication is also about building four keys of excellent communication which are :-
1) Outcome Orientation
2) Build Rapport
3) Behavioural Flexibility
4) Sensory Acuity
If you are able to master the four keys of excellent communication, then you will be able to improve your ability to understand what is actually being said via a particular communication from someone & translate it into your own internal language so you understand what is being relaid via physiology, voice & words.
Thus enhancing your ability to build better relationships via excellent communication.
This is just a basic intro into communication skills, which when you think we all rely on on a daily basis. Yet how many times do people misunderstand or get the wrong signals from what was possible a simple yet direct communication & we may have misread what they were truly trying to relay to us?
Lets think about conversations we have has with family, friends & work colleagues, how many times have we come away thinking what’s wrong with them or why are they saying that etc.etc.

What is a diagnosis ?
It is a process to identify what is stopping someone from achieving something that they want to do, but are struggling to do so.
If you follow the process listed below, you can start to work out what obsticales / barriers are getting in the way of someone achieving their goals etc.
Hou to Carry out your Diagnosis
1. Gain a general sense of the issues
Asking open questions and actively listening in order to get the coachee to open up about the current situation.
Example questions –
- What is it you’re trying to achieve?
- What is your goal?
- What is the ultimate intention of achieving that goal?
- How long have you had this goal?
- How important is this goal to you?
- What have you tried previously?
- What was the result of this?
- Tell me about a time when you achieved something that you thought you couldn’t.
- What did you do that made you successful in this?
2 Home in on particular incidents
Link and build your questions based on the responses given in order to get more information and find the root cause
Example questions :-
- Tell me more about…….
- Give me an example of that.
- What happened when……?
- What was the outcome?
- Tell me about times when you have been successful in this area, what was happening?
- What do you see as being the implications of…..?
3 Identify what’s stopping a better performance
Example questions :-
- What stops you from…..?
- What would need to happen for you to be able to……?
- When you tried that in the past, what was missing?
- What else would you need in order to succeed?
- Pose the Suppose – Ifx was not an issue, would there be anything else stopping you?
Choose the right type of question to help the coachee to identify what barriers they are facing and what is stopping them from getting what they want
4 Work out and agree if/how coaching can help them
- I will get you to agree some action plans, are you happy to carry these out?
Check for their commitment to coaching and explain the guidelines of how the coaching relationship will work.
Once you have done your diagnosis, if you determine it’s –
Discuss how they can obtain this knowledge
This means the coachee is not really cut out for the role
You can’t put in what god left out!!
Attitude or Skills
This is where you coach, you can now go on to use the GROW model and this will help you get the best results from your coaching session.
From what you have learned today and from past experience, write down:
1. Your main strength’s when doing your diagnosis?
2. The one area you still need to develop?
3. How you will address this development area?
You can’t buy experience, but you can share your experiences for the benefit of others!
We all learn and put into practice our learns on a daily basis, but how often do we share with others the knowledge we have gained. Just think of the immense impact sharing our knowledge and passing on to others would generate and enhance peoples awareness in the world today.
How often do we acknowledge what we have achieved on a daily basis, also what have we done for the first time today?
When you get the know how, it provides you with more confidence to do things you have not done previously, plus you get to develop your own skills at the same time. With confidence comes a renewed belief in yourself and your abilities, which again you can’t buy and you can only achieve via experience. Another benefit of renewed confidence is that you become motivated to want to achieve even more in life!
So remember how your own knowledge can be of value to others around you and how others can also benefit you from their knowledge.
How often have you learnt the hard way and although at times this has been difficult to deal with? Afterwards the learns can be invaluable to you and change the way you do things in life for ever.
What better reason for sharing our knowledge and experiences with friends, family and work colleagues, than knowing how it improves and helps with future development, confidence and motivation as well.
Happy sharing and rejoice in the adding value to your world around you!

What does it take to enjoy your life?
What does it mean to you?
How important is it to you to achieve success?
Unless you know what you want in life, and how do you intend to achieve success – then you can underachieve your desires which can have a knock on effect.
Which can lead to you feeling at a loss, not knowing what to do or where to go in the future?
Well believe in yourself and what you can actually achieve, then you need to plan your goals and objectives for the future. Set yourself time scales to be able to measure your own success and achievements. Only by taking time out to reflect what you have already achieved and what you still need to achieve to enable you to move forward towards your goals and objectives.
There is no rocket science involved, just using your existing knowledge, skills and attitude can make the difference between success and missed opportunities!
So seek support and help to maximise your full potential via a coach, who will help you to identify the key issues you need to address.
Firstly you need to know who you are and what you stand for? Also you need to want to make changes to enable you to succeed success!
And this means in all aspects of your life, including your career & your personal relationships, because you may be happy in one area but not all three?
So the key thing is to accept you need to have a balance in your life between your career and your relationships, because if you get the balance wrong then you are likely to head towards problems, which include emotions, your family, your career and finally what it will cost you in financial and personal terms.
So seek support on a regular basis with a coach to avoid the pitfalls that can impact on your life?
Don’t forget they creep up on you without your full knowledge that they are happening to you before it is to late!
There is nothing more important in life than your family & friends, compared to having money and career success, otherwise you will become the richest person in the cemetery!
So believe in the future and that you can make the changes that make a difference to enhance of your life and ambitions for the future.
Only conditioning during our lives makes us think or believe that you can’t do something! When in fact this is not true and you can achieve what ever you want if you really want to!
So always remember you only have one life, so why would you want to waste it? Make the most of your life and yes this will mean at times you need to take chances? Hay this is part of life, and what we need to accept and decide what we want and how we are going to achieve what I want in life.
You can have it all, happiness, success and fulfilment, provided you are adaptable and prepared to adjust to enable you to achieve your desired goals.
And trust me you can, I have worked with lots of people, including clients who have changed they way they do things for the better and achieved the desired results they wanted in like!
